Run 42km

I grew up in Rustenburg in North West and was raised in a Christian family where faith was meant to be lived, not just spoken about. From an early age, I learned that faith often requires stepping forward when it is uncomfortable. That belief is what has led me to take part in the 2026 Muskathlon. Growing up in South Africa in the early 2000s, human trafficking was never a distant issue. It was something we were aware of and something that happened close to home. I have heard many stories and know several people who had close calls. Most recently, a mother who lives near us was pulled from her car and forced into another vehicle that took her out of town. She was rescued in the next town and brought home safely, but the reality of how it could have ended made the issue impossible to ignore. Human trafficking continues to cause deep harm in our country, and it persists where silence and inaction are allowed. By participating in the Muskathlon, I am choosing to step out of my comfort zone through the physical challenge of the marathon and the commitment required to raise funds. While the discomfort I will face is small in comparison, I see it as a way to stand in solidarity with those who suffer far more. I am taking on this Muskathlon because of my faith in what God can do and because I trust the work of organisations like 4M and Brave to Love. My prayer is that through this effort, victims of human trafficking will receive not only physical and emotional support, but also lasting peace and restoration.
